Slow Cooker Pulled Pork - Slow Cooker recipe

Ingredients

  • • 4 lbs pork shoulder (bone-in or boneless)
  • • For dry rub: 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • • 2 teaspoons salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • • 1 cup chicken broth
  • • 1 cup BBQ sauce (plus more for serving)
  • • 8 brioche buns and coleslaw to serve

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Mix all dry rub ingredients together and rub generously all over the pork shoulder.
  2. Step 2: Place pork in the slow cooker. Pour in apple cider vinegar and chicken broth around the pork (not over it).
  3. Step 3: Cook on LOW for 8–10 hours or HIGH for 4–5 hours, until pork shreds easily with a fork.
  4. Step 4: Remove pork and shred using two forks, discarding any large pieces of fat or bone.
  5. Step 5: Skim fat from the cooking juices. Pour 1/2 cup of the juices back over the shredded pork.
  6. Step 6: Stir in BBQ sauce and mix well. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  7. Step 7: Serve on toasted brioche buns with extra BBQ sauce and classic coleslaw.
