Ingredients
- • 3 lbs chicken pieces (thighs and drumsticks)
- • 1/2 cup soy sauce
- • 1/2 cup white vinegar
- • 1 head garlic, crushed
- • 3 bay leaves
- • 1 tablespoon whole black peppercorns
- • 1 cup water
- • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- • Salt to taste
- • Steamed rice for serving
Instructions
- Step 1: Combine chicken, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, bay leaves, peppercorns, and water in a large pot.
- Step 2: Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes until chicken is cooked through.
- Step 3: Remove chicken from the sauce. Heat oil in a pan and fry chicken until golden brown.
- Step 4: Return fried chicken to the sauce. Simmer for another 10 minutes to let flavors meld.
- Step 5: Remove bay leaves and adjust seasoning with salt if needed.
- Step 6: Serve hot over steamed rice with plenty of sauce.
