Ingredients
- • 12 lasagna noodles
- • 1 lb ground beef
- • 1/2 lb Italian sausage
- • 1 medium onion, diced
- • 4 cloves garlic, minced
- • 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
- • 6 oz can tomato paste
- • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- • 1 teaspoon sugar
- • 15 oz ricotta cheese
- • 1 large egg
- • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
- • Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Step 1: Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain and lay flat on oiled parchment.
- Step 2: Brown ground beef and sausage in a large pot over medium-high heat. Drain excess fat.
- Step 3: Add onion and garlic, cook 5 minutes. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer 20 minutes.
- Step 4: In a bowl, mix ricotta, egg, basil, 1/2 cup Parmesan, salt, and pepper.
- Step 5: Preheat oven to 375°F. Spread 1 cup meat sauce in a 9x13 baking dish.
- Step 6: Layer: 4 noodles, 1/3 ricotta mixture, 1 cup mozzarella, 1/3 meat sauce. Repeat twice.
- Step 7: Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan. Cover with foil.
- Step 8: Bake covered 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake 20-25 minutes more until bubbly and golden.
- Step 9: Let rest 15 minutes before cutting. Garnish with fresh basil.
