Bistek Tagalog - Dinner recipe

Ingredients

  • • 1.5 lbs beef sirloin, sliced thin
  • • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • • 1/4 cup calamansi juice (or lemon juice)
  • • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • • 3 large onions, sliced into rings
  • • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • • 1/2 cup water
  • • Salt to taste
  • • Steamed rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Marinate beef in soy sauce, calamansi juice, garlic, and pepper for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Step 2: Heat oil in a pan. Fry onion rings until caramelized. Remove and set aside.
  3. Step 3: In the same pan, fry marinated beef in batches until browned.
  4. Step 4: Pour in the marinade and water. Simmer for 10 minutes until sauce thickens.
  5. Step 5: Top with caramelized onions.
  6. Step 6: Serve hot with steamed rice.
